Nicky Hayden, looking to extend his advantage at the top of the leaderboard this weekend, heads the timesheets in MotoGP after putiing in a 1'22.803 lap. The American and team-mate Dani Pedrosa were the only two riders to go round in under 1'23. Pedrosa suffered a crash late on in the session.

Marco Melandri, fastest yesterday, was third, followed by Kenny Roberts Jr, Casey Stoner and Loris Capirossi. Six tenths off Hayden's time, Valentino Rossi came in seventh.
