2006 In Review: Pedrosa takes maiden victory

After taking second on his MotoGP debut and continuing to show his class at the start of 2006, Dani Pedrosa took his first premier class victory at the Chinese Grand Prix at the Shanghai Circuit.

The Repsol Honda rider came back from a bad start from pole to regain the lead on lap nine. He was able to hold off the challenge of team-mate Nicky Hayden to pass the chequered flag and take his maiden victory.

Pedrosa became the second youngest rider to win a premier class race, equalling Norick Abe's record when he won at the 1996 Japanese Grand Prix in Suzuka aged 20 and 227 days.
