Capirossi flying in free practice

Loris Capirossi put in a flying lap of 1'57.404 to become the fastest rider so far at Brno, edging out Marco Melandri in a fast-paced practice session.

The two Italians both went round quicker than Sete Gibernau's 2005 pole position time, and this afternoon's qualifying session is sure to see a tussle for the front spot. With some riders already using qualifying tyres for the third practice session, the tables already look somewhat deceiving.

Valentino Rossi, fastest yesterday, came in third, followed by Dani Pedrosa and Colin Edwards, half a second off Ducati's Italian star. Nicky Hayden was sixth, with Kawasaki's Randy de Puniet and Shinya Nakano ahead of Casey Stoner and John Hopkins in the top ten.
