Initiatives such as the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, which held its selection process this week in Valencia, are an excellent opportunity for young riders to start on the road to their eventual dream of becoming riders in the MotoGP World Championship.

Raul Jara, who competed in the Junior Cup alongside riders such as Dani Pedrosa, and now assumes the role of Sporting Director for the Red Bull MotoGP Academy and manager of the Repsol Honda 125cc team, understands perfectly how this week's hopefuls have been feeling.

"Moments from when you used to participate in these kind of competitions come flooding back to you. Something like the briefing or just before you take to the track trigger some memories. You use your experience to understand how the kids are feeling. The bikes are very similar to those that they will encounter in the championship, and that is a big help for them," explained Jara to motogp.com
