Tamada: "My determination will be even higher"

Konica Minolta Honda rider Makoto Tamada gives his thoughts on the season so far, and what the rest of 2006 has in store for the Japanese star.

How do you assess the first 2/3rds of the season for you?

This part of the season was not very easy for me. I tried very hard to exploit the potential of the technical package I have at my disposal but I still have not found the right tyres feeling especially when exiting the corners.

You performed well at the last Asian circuit to be visited, Shanghai. Is it the kind of form that you expect to continue in Malaysia and Japan?

My target is always to give a good result to Konica Minolta and my team. They've never stopped supporting me and a podium would be my best way to say "Thank you". I love the Sepang and Motegi circuits and my usual concentration and determination would be even stronger there.

Do you always see Motegi as your best chance of a good result in each season?

Motegi is my home race and I have a magic feeling with the track. Furthermore, here I went up the steps of the podium every year, since I was a MotoGP rookie. I will do my best to repeat this experience in 2006 as well.

How is your knee after you struggled with it recently?

My left knee caused me more pain and inconveniences that I'd expect. It also interfered with my performance at the "Suzuka 8 hours". Now it's getting better and better. I feel confident to reach Sepang in good physical conditions.

Have you been working with Michelin on anything specific during the break?

On 21st August, after the GP of Brno, I remained at the circuit with my team and test some Michelin rear tyres to give the French constructor some useful information regarding the material to be developed for the last 2006 season races.
