Lorenzo takes pole after practice whitewash

After dominating the practice sessions for the 250cc GMC Australian Grand Prix, Jorge Lorenzo ensured pole position with a 1'32.717 lap in the second qualifying session at Phillip Island. The Spaniard lowered his time from yesterday by nearly half a second, and was nine tenths faster than closest rival Alex de Angelis.

Sylvain Guintoli and title contender Andrea Dovizioso complete tomorrow's front row, whilst the second group consists of Marco Simoncelli, Hiroshi Aoyama, Hector Barbera and Jakub Smrz. Yuki Takahashi and Roberto Locatelli rounded off the top ten, whilst local rider Anthony West put his Kiefer BOS bike on the third row for his home Grand Prix.
