Takahashi renews with Humangest for 2007

At the appropriate location of his home Grand Prix at Twin Ring Motegi, Humangest Racing rider Yuki Takahashi has announced the renovation of his contract with the team for the 2007 season. After two years amidst the Honda team's ranks, Takahashi has impressed this season and has taken two victories (in Le Mans and Sachsenring).

In a statement, the rising Japanese 250cc star explained the reasons behind his continuation with both the team and in the quarter litre category.

"I have been contacted by many teams for next year, even MotoGP teams, but I believe it's too early for me. After finishing the two-years of Honda schooling, my priority was to stay in Honda and ride an official bike. Before going to Malaysia I didn't know anything about my future, and when I had the meeting with the Humangest Racing Team managers at Sepang, I was very happy to receive from them the one-year renewal of my contract as I really enjoy racing in this team."

Takahashi also paid tribute to his partnership with team-mate and title contender Andrea Dovizioso, and reflected on his second season in 250cc.

"This has been a difficult year for me, especially after my crash at Suzuka; I improved a lot since last year, I was able to adapt to the bike and I changed my riding style trying not to lean too much from the bike. In this way, I was able to be more competitive, but still I know I have some room to improve. I'm very content about the relationship I have with my team and with my team-mate Andrea Dovizioso, who I hope will stay with us also next year. I'm also satisfied with the HRC support in these two years, but now I have to stand on my own feet and I'm proud to have signed the contract for next year. I want to thank Honda, HRC, the sponsor of the team and all the people who stayed close to me and for helping me. Thanks a lot!"

Cirano Mularoni, Head of Humangest Racing Team, showed his delight at the new deal and looked to the future for both the outfit and their rider.

"Yuki Takahashi's results so far on the Humangest Racing Team Honda RSW confirmed to the team and the sponsors to renew our contract with him for 2007. Yuki is a very competitive rider who has made notable progress since last year. Also, he was able to build up a good relationship with the team. We are very happy to have reached an agreement with Yuki and we are convinced that he will get even more prestigious results in 2007 than this year".
