Nieto joins Honda BQR for 2007

One of the first riders to announce a move up in category for next season, Pablo Nieto will be a 250cc rider next year after reaching an agreement with Wurth Honda BQR. The one-year deal, with the option of a further season, is a welcome bit of good news for the Spaniard after undergoing an operation on his collarbone a few days ago.

"I'm very excited and extremely happy with this move, because Wurth BQR Honda are one of the best private teams in the World Championship. I have a good relationship with all the team," commented Nieto. "I believe that the working environment will be good for me, and the fact that I am moving on from the 125cc category gives me a lot of motivation. Raul Romero has put a lot of faith in me, and I hope to reward this with results. The only thing that I can promise is that I will work my hardest to make the team as competitive as possible."

Future team-mate Aleix Espargaro has also been under the knife this week, undergoing surgery on his left thumb. The Spaniard had two injuries to the digit, and after the operation he is a doubt for the Gran Premio bwin.com de Portugal.
