Valentino Rossi has cut a total of 39 points from the gap between himself and Nicky Hayden in the past four Grands Prix. The Camel Yamaha rider has a stronghold on second place in the overall classification, and continues his assault on the world title.

Despite the fact that Hayden only has to focus on his own results to take the championship, the magnificent comeback from the Italian superstar is surely making life difficult for the American.

In the following video, Rossi talks about his performance in Japan, stating that he focused only on his own performance. He also looked forward to the upcoming GP bwin.com de Portugal.

"In Japan I never knew Hayden's position at any point in the race. I concentrated on riding my own race and getting the best result possible. It turns out that I cut the difference between us by nine points, but it could have been more if Nakano hadn't crashed," commented the Rossi.
