Dovizioso not giving up 250cc title hope

Andrea Dovizioso's title hopes in the 250cc category have suffered a recent blow, with Jorge Lorenzo 27 points ahead of him with 2 races to go. However, the Italian hasn't given up just yet…

"The last three races haven't been so positive for me. I set out with the aim of gaining ground in the classification, and in fact I ended up losing points. We now also have the KTM team hitting good form, so we have more rivals to worry about and making things more complicated," commented Dovizioso.

"I have always given my all, and I knew that these races were going to be difficult, although I was pretty confident about Motegi because Honda always go well there."

Despite the gap between himself and Lorenzo in the standings, the Italian has ruled out a change of strategy in Portugal and Valencia.>/p> "At Estoril I'm not going to take any more or any less risks than in previous races. My title chances are still alive, and so I don't feel under any more pressure," he said, before assessing is main rival.

"Aprilia has stepped up in comparison with last year, and they've had a more consistent rider on board. The difference between us has been a lack of horsepower on our behalf."

Regardless of his final placing, Dovizioso considers his 2006 season to have been a positive one. "I'm generally satisfied with how the season has developed, because I have always rode on the limit and fought for many victories. I could have done better on a few occasions, but I have no regrets. It's all helped me gain experience," he concluded.
