Bartol keen to keep Aoyama despite Kawasaki talks

Red Bull KTM Manager Harald Bartol took time out from preparing the team for the Estoril race to speak with motogp.com about next seasons line-ups.

Having announced the 125cc squadron of Tomoyoshi Koyama, Randy Krummenacher and Julian Simon for 2007, Bartol still has an anxious wait to confirm his 250cc team. Hiroshi Aoyama will today speak with MotoGP outfit Kawasaki about a possible move up to the premier class.

"Our 250cc team is still uncertain, although this afternoon we will let Hiroshi speak with Kawasaki. Obviously we want to keep him for next season," said the Austrian about the rider who has given him two victories this season.

One certainty about the 250cc team will be the presence of Mika Kallio, who could confirm his second 125cc runners-up spot this weekend in Portugal.

"We offered the move up to the quarter litre class and it was what Mika wanted. I would probably have preferred to have kept him on to finish the job, which for me is to take the title, before leaving 125cc, but I think the move will be positive for him."

In an exclusive interview, Bartol also speaks about how he will adapt the new riders to his lower cylinder class team.
