Hayden looks west on eve of title showdown

Nicky Hayden today took part in a pre-event activity at Cabo da Roca, the most westerly point of mainland Europe. The closest point to his homeland, the Portuguese attraction provided a welcome chance for Hayden to take his mind off one of the most crucial weekends of his career.

After visiting the place "where the land ends and the sea begins," the Repsol Honda rider attended the customary pre-event press conference at the Estoril Circuit, where he was seated next to main title rival Valentino Rossi.

Rossi lies twelve points behind the American in the overall standings, but any more of the bad luck which has plagued the Camel Yamaha rider in 2006 could see him out of the running this season, enabling Hayden to take the title even further west than Cabo da Roca.
