Bautista using new bike this weekend

One thing sure to stand out this weekend in the 125cc category is the all new Aprilia bike ridden by World Champion Alvaro Bautista at the Estoril Circuit. Engineer Gigi Dall'Igna's creation was tried out by Bautista last weekend at the Circuit de Almeria, and is adorned with the red and yellow of the Spaniard's national flag.

Gino Borsoi, who developed the bike on track, spoke to yesterday about his first impressions of the bike and gave a glowing review, whilst Bautista also took the time to comment on what will be his machine for the final two races of the 2006 season.

"I really like this bike, and I think that the only improvement could be in the rear end. Its difficult to draw conclusions after only 2 days, so we'll see how it works out this weekend," declared Bautista. "What I liked was that the bike is more comfortable and you only just feel the vibration. It has more acceleration but lacks a bit of speed at the moment. It's basically a new bike."
