Carlos Checa accepts LCR Honda offer

Carlos Checa has reached an agreement with the Lucio Cecchinello led Honda LCR squad to ride with them in the 2007 season, as announced by Hervé Poncharal, manager of the Yamaha Tech 3 to motogp.com. The Spanish rider thus puts an end to all the rumours, speculation and negotiations in which he has found himself recently, especially during last weekend's bwin.com Grand Prix of Portugal .

`The doubts are over, Carlos Checa told me about his choice of not renewing with Tech 3 in order to accept the offer of entering Lucio Cecchinello's team´, declared Poncharal late Sunday evening.

Despite losing his main asset of the concluding 2006 project, the French engineer remains excited about next year's MotoGP World Championship. `Team Yamaha Tech 3 is very proud of the work we have done this season, and we are really looking forward to extending the cooperation with Dunlop next year´.

Carlos Checa's arrival at LCR Honda implies that Casey Stoner has left the team, which points towards an agreement signed by the young Australian with Ducati.

Lucio Cecchinello gladly declared: ‘I am happy to finalise an agreement with Carlos Checa to join our team in what will be an exciting project with the new 800cc MotoGP regulations. Unfortunately I was unable to reach an agreement with Casey Stoner to ride for LCR in 2007. I am proud that the Honda LCR team was able to bring a talented young rider like Casey into MotoGP this season and I would like to wish him all the best for his future career'.
