Stoner and Elías secure their future in MotoGP for 2007

Still pending official confirmation from their respective teams, Casey Stoner and Toni Elías, two of the most promising youngsters in MotoGP, may have already solved their future in the premier class for the upcoming season.

As Honda LCR announced earlier, Stoner has turned down the offer to renew with Lucio Cecchinello's squad, with signs pointing to his signing with Ducati for 2007, thus raising another question: what will happen to Sete Gibernau? Yesterday, the Spanish rider fractured a bone on his right hand and suffered yet another injury on his left collarbone after the crash coincidentally suffered alongside his rumoured substitute in the Italian team. Stoner will turn 21 this Monday.

It seems that Fausto Gresini's outfit will remain unaltered in terms of riders in the MotoGP grid. A few days ago, Marco Melandri's agreement for a one season extension was announced, and Toni Elías' extraordinary victory in Estoril may just have saved his seat with the team.
