Konica Minolta Honda confirm sponsor but not rider for 2007

JiR (Japan Italy Racing) have extended their deal with Konica Minolta, meaning that they will continue to develop their MotoGP project under the Konica Minolta Honda banner, having previously spent two years together.

Team Director Gianluca Montiron expressed his happiness with the renovation earlier this week.

"I am extremely satisfied with the gratitude and confidence placed in us by Konica Minolta and Honda. Our main goal is to obtain the sporting results associated with us."

Montiron also commented that although the sponsorship deal has been sealed, the Konica Minolta Honda rider for next year has yet to be decided.

"The team is in a position to confirm our 2007 sponsor, but the decision regarding the choice of rider will not be undertaken until the final race of the season."

Makoto Tamada threw a spanner in the works of an easy decision last weekend in Portugal, where he took an excellent fifth place after an unexceptional year.
