Advantage Rossi heading to Valencia

Valentino Rossi will start the bwin.com Gran Premio de la Comunitat Valenciana with an unexpected eight point advantage for the decisive race of the 2006 season. It is the first time that he has led the overall classification this season, and could not have come at a more opportune moment ahead of the final challenge of the year.

The Camel Yamaha rider attended a press conference immediately after the race in Estoril, and paid tribute to Colin Edwards' team spirit during the Grand Prix. He also took the opportunity to have a cheeky dig at the not-so-successful teamwork of the Repsol Honda riders, Nicky Hayden and Dani Pedrosa, who both crashed out together on the opening laps. "Colin was a big help for me....definitely more helpful than Pedrosa was to Hayden!" said the Italian. "When I saw on my board that Hayden was out of the race I didn't know what to do for a moment: take risks to take the victory or be cautious and try to add to my points tally with a second or third.
