Ducati will not run 800cc at Valencia

Speaking ahead of the Gran Premio bwin.com de la Comunitat Valenciana, Ducati Project Manager Livio Suppo dismissed rumours that the team will be running their 800cc bike this weekend.

"They were just rumours. We want to end the 990cc era in the best way possible, and we will do this with Loris Capirossi and Troy Bayliss this weekend. The next time that we will try the 800cc will be the week after the race. It is also a good opportunity for Troy to celebrate Ducati's 990cc era and his Superbike win."

Suppo also spoke about his new signing, Australian Casey Stoner, and the possibility they had to sign Marco Melandri before his renewal with Gresini Honda.

"We spoke with Marco, and we were interested, but we also new that Fausto Gresini had an option to keep him for another year. That's the business we're in, we certainly wouldn't rule out signing him in the future. Now we have Casey, who has had an incredible year. He had a few problems after a good start to the season, but we think he can do really well for us in 2007."
