Barbera, Debon and Lorenzo top timesheets for Fortuna Aprilia

Fortuna Aprilia's three-strong Spanish lineup set the early standards at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia, occupying the top spaces of the first free practice session. It was Hector Barbera who impressed most, the fastest rider at his home circuit with a 1'36.102 lap. Alex Debon, making his return to the 250cc World Championship in a break from his test rider role, continued where he left off last time out by taking second behind his team-mate. Jorge Lorenzo, who has the chance to wrap up the World Title this week, was over a second behind Barbera.

Hiroshi Aoyama was fourth fastest, ahead of Marco Simoncelli, Andrea Dovizioso and Akex De Angelis. There was a crash for Yuki Takahashi which saw the Japanese rider play no further part in the session.
