Lorenzo speaks ahead of title-decider

Jorge Lorenzo, set to ride in his home Grand Prix this weekend with the 250cc title in his sights, conducted an interview before the race in Cheste to talk about the 13 point advantage he holds over Andrea Dovizioso in the overall classification and the opportunity to take a maiden World Title in the quarter litre category.

How do you see Sunday's race?

I'm facing a very special weekend. I'm competing for the world title, something I've never done before, so obviously it's going to be a different race to those that have gone before.

Do you have a clear plan on how to face such a decisive race?

I have to ride just as I always do, as I know I can. If I do that then everything should go just fine.

What did you learn from the race in Portugal?

I learnt that, depending on the situation, races can be approached in different ways. In Estoril I was more of a conformist than usual, but I finished the race, didn't suffer a crash and took more point to move me closer to the title.

People talk about pressure, but it seems clear that defending a lead is better than making a comeback.

Its better to be 13 points in front than 13 behind. I am well aware of this, and I prefer my chances to Dovizioso's. Of course we have to work hard, and maybe have a bit of luck, otherwise we won't take the title that everybody wants.
