MotoGP Awards gathers stars for glittering presentation

As the dust settled on an amazing race and a fantastic season for the MotoGP World Championship, there was still one special event to officially celebrate 2006 in style. The stars of all three cylinder classes donned their Sunday best and headed for Valencia's Palau de las Artes, where the annual MotoGP awards rewarded their achievements over this incredible eight month period.

Presented by two figures from English and Spanish MotoGP TV coverage, Suzi Perry and Marc Martin, the gala attracted a large worldwide audience both on Spanish station TVE and live on motogp.com. Along with awards for the top three riders in MotoGP, 250cc and 125cc, the 2006 rookies of the year were also welcomed on stage. These included Dani Pedrosa, Shuhei Aoyama and Bradley Smith, all representing Repsol Honda.

To finish the star-studded bash, new World Champion Nicky Hayden, gracious runner-up Valentino Rossi and the ever-popular third placed rider Loris Capirossi shared the stage for the presentation of their trophies.

The entire 2006 MotoGP Awards can be watched again on the following video.
