Rossi set for WRC appearance

Even on his holidays, Valentino Rossi never strays too far from the world of motorsport. After taking part in the MotoGP World Championship finale and two days of tests, the Italian star today arrives in England to train for an appearance in the World Rally Championship.

Rossi is pencilled in to represent the Subaru team in the New Zealand Rally, which takes place in under two weeks, behind the wheel of their Impreza model. The Camel Yamaha rider's last appearance in the championship was back in 2002, when he competed for Peugot at the British round.

The former World Champion's car will be instantly recognisable this time around, Rossi having been granted permission to use the number 46 by the International Automobile Assosiation and current user of the number, Nigel Heath.
