Runner-up in the 125cc category for the past two seasons, Mika Kallio's talents have also gained recognition in his home country this week, where he has one again been voted Best Finnish Motorsport Driver.

Kallio, who had his first test last week on the 250cc KTM with which he will move up to the quarter litre category next season, took 33.1% of the public vote, organised by television station YLE Channel 2 and national motorsport annual Ruutulippu over three weeks. He beat off competition from Formula 1 star Kimi Raikonnen, Enduro World Champion Samuli Aro and rally driver Marcus Gronholm.

"The result of this vote is great for me personally and of course it is also good for our sport. This clearly shows that MotoGP has become more and more popular in Finland, where we have always had strong traditions in rallying and Formula 1," said the Finn upon receiving the prize. Motogp.com recently caught up with Kallio to give his initial thoughts on his first 250cc ride at the Valencia test.
