Hopkins happy but wary

The fastest rider at last week's Sepang Test, John Hopkins has reason to be pleased with the development of Suzuki's 800cc project. The Anglo-American topped the timesheets on consecutive days at the Malaysian circuit, alongside team-mate Chris Vermeulen, after previously impressing in his first outing with the machine at Valencia. With Ducati riders Loris Capirossi and Casey Stoner returning to testing alongside Valentino Rossi and Dani Pedrosa, and a quite different circuit to encounter, all eyes will be on Suzuki's progress in Jerez next week.

"I'm pretty happy with the way things have gone so far," explained Hopkins after the three-day test. "Suzuki brought a very good package here, and we're just working on the setup and engine mapping at the moment. I don't want to get prematurely excited, it is still early days, but we are definitely in better shape than we ever have been at this point in the year," he concluded.
