Checa: "We still need time to improve"

Carlos Checa was one of many riders making their 800cc debut at the Sepang test last week, but was the victim of bad luck which only allowed him to undertake few laps on his Honda RC212V. In an interview conducted after the test, Checa indicated that there is still a long way to go for the LCR Honda team, and that a lot of planned work had been affected by rain.

"It wasn't the right time for us to try out the 800cc in wet conditions. We had a lot planned, but we couldn't do what we wanted when it started raining," said the Spaniard. "We managed to do some chassis work, and that didn't leave us with much time to look at the Michelin tyres. I'm satisfied, but I was definitely expecting to get more done."

"We still need time to improve, and I have had a few problems with the adjustment to the 800cc. The bike is more compact, and for this reason my seating position has to change. It's not a worry though, I had to do the same thing when I changed from Ducati to Yamaha."
