Tamada pleased with Yamaha debut

Makoto Tamada made his first outing onboard the new Yamaha 800cc machine last week in Sepang. A long-time Honda rider, Tamada has joined the French Tech3 outfit -which will be Dunlop's sole team in the premier class in 2007- and his first experience on the new YZR proved positive.

"I still have to get used to the Yamaha, but from the first day it went pretty well. We have also been working on the tyres and we already found some interesting solutions. The fact that our lap times improved every day proves that we did some good work," said Tamada. "However, it was quite tough because of the heat, which has consequences on the performance of the bike, the tyre and the rider as well. So I was quite tired after this test but it was quite a positive one."

"I'm really happy to have the chance to ride the 800cc Yamaha. I'm sure that they'll come up with a more powerful machine for the next test. I'm very hopeful about the potential of this bike," added the Japanese rider, who firmly believes in his chance to bounce back with a new team after two disappointing seasons. "If you look back on the 2006 season, you can see that Dunlop improved throughout the season. I ready to work hard and do my best so we can try and find the best tyre and get to the first race of the season in good shape."

"Now I can enjoy a short break in Japan - it's time to chill out a bit, but I'll keep up with my usual training routine so I'm fit when we test again at Sepang in January."
