Rossi wields the sword

Ousted from the MotoGP throne by Nicky Hayden, Valentino Rossi is eager to regain his crown and sends a clear message to his rivals: the fairing of his Yamaha and his helmet adorn a new theme, a sword, expressing his fighting spirit and his wish to reclaim his status.

On the first day of the Jerez test, the Italian explained to motogp.com: "It's a reference to the sword in the stone, 'Excalibur', it's about showing that we are ready to fight back and do our best during this winter."

"This is an important test, we could only do a few laps this morning before it rained, but hopefully we'll get better weather on Wednesday and Thursday so we can get some important work done," added Rossi.
