Gómez resumes 250cc apprenticeship

Spanish outfit Wurth BQR attends the test held at the Jerez circuit this week with 250cc newcomer Russell Gómez. A regular of the Spanish Championship under Wurth BQR colours, Gómez is now part of the team 250cc effort as their reserve rider.

"I previously rode with the team at this track a month ago. It went pretty well for a first 250cc test as I lapped in the low 1'47s. I'm still getting used to the two-stroke because I only raced on four-stroke machines previously, mainly in the Spanish and Catalan Supersport series," explained the 19 year-old from Barcelona.

"At the moment I'm only the third rider of the team, which means that I have to be ready to stand-in for one of the team's regulars in case something happens. But in any case, it's all about learning the bike for now and we'll see in the future if I get a chance to enter a Grand Prix."

In 2007, Wurth BQR will enter the 250cc World Championship with Pablo Nieto and Aleix Espargaró on Aprilia machinery, and will also compete in the 125cc class.
