Carlo Pernat analyses Capirossi and Bridgestone's 2006

Loris Capirossi's manager and friend Carlo Pernat was by the Ducati rider's side during last week's test in Jerez, the final outing for the Italian in 2006. The experienced figure spoke to motogp.com at the Spanish circuit to look back on an excellent year for third-placed Capirossi.

"In my opinion, Loris had the best season of his career in 2006. He has matured and developed consistency. His Achilles heel had previously been keeping up his good form, but he started off the season by winning here and has continued to ride well throughout the whole year. Only the crash in Barcelona affected his progress in the second half of the championship," commented Pernat.

The Italian manager then turned his attention to the work undertaken by Bridgestone in 2006. "In my opinion Bridgestone are still the young guns of MotoGP. They are still a step behind Michelin, above all in terms of consistency. Although Bridgestone have had a clear advantage at some circuits, when the tyres don't work at a particular track the riders drop down the standings very easily."
