Sekiguchi back under the knife

Taro Sekiguchi, the Japanese rider who spent a large period of the 2006 season on the sidelines, underwent yet another operation last Thursday. Sekiguchi suffered a repeat of his broken leg at the first race of the season at Jerez, and after a series of surgical procedures he only managed to start racing again at the Czech Republic Grand Prix in August.

This latest operation was a routine procedure to rectify the position of his right femur, a move which he hopes will aid his comeback in 2007. "The operation was a success," commented the rider, "now my leg is back in the correct position and I feel great! It was a difficult decision to go under the knife again, but I'm sure that this will allow me to be able to compete to the best of my ability next season."

Sekiguchi should be discharged from the hospital in his homeland at the end of the month, but will this meet with sponsors and fans this weekend to thank them for their support and reveal his plans for 2007.

250cc, 2006, Taro Sekiguchi
