RTVE to cover MotoGP in Spain until 2011

Coverage of the MotoGP World Championship in Spain will continue to be broadcast on Radiotelevision Española (RTVE) until 2011, as a result of an agreement signed yesterday by the channel's Director General, Carmen Caffarel, and Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of MotoGP rights holders Dorna Sports.

Both parts highlighted that with the new agreement, the coverage of MotoGP in Spain will be much broader.

Carmen Caffarel explained: `We are happy because motorbikes are part of the history of this channel. TVE has been following the Championship for many years and thanks to this agreement we will continue doing so for a further five years. We will soon reveal the details of the programme planning both for MotoGP and the Spanish Road Racing Championship (CEV), but the coverage will be much broader than ever before´.

Carmelo Ezpeleta stated: `We are very happy with this agreement, not only because we are continuing with TVE, who has been our partner since 1992, the year we started with motorbikes, but also because I'm absolutely convinced that this is going to be the best coverage of all; larger than any other sport in Spain´.

The signing of the deal was celebrated with a presentation attended by a number of Spanish MotoGP stars, including Dani Pedrosa, 250cc World Champion Jorge Lorenzo and 125cc World Champion Alvaro Bautista.

RTVE have broadcast the World Championship in Spain for 26 seasons.
