Riders for Health starts 2006 campaign

The Spanish branch of the MotoGP charity Riders for Health, Motos Solidarias, started its 2006 campaign on the eve of the MotoGP World Championship's opening round in Jerez.

The charity, which helps to save lives daily through the establishment and maintenance of transport networks - providing key medication to remote communities in Zimbabwe, Gambia and Nigeria - began the fundraising proceedings by offering a select group of MotoGP enthusiasts a chance to experience first hand the build-up of this weekend's Grand Prix.

The activities offered on Thursday included the "MotoGP Experience", a run on the 4,423km track, with the riders lapping behind the official MotoGP safety car, as well as a lunch organized with the kind participation of Barceló Montecastillo Resort. The participants could also attend the photo sessions of each MotoGP category held in the pit lane with all the Grand Prix riders, and meet Riders for Health patron Randy Mamola.

On Thursday Riders for Health raised over 9000 euros for its worthy cause.
