New Faces In MotoGP: Andrew Pitt

Although he has previously competed in the World Championship, experienced rider Andrew Pitt's three year absence from MotoGP and return with the newest team on the grid mean that he is very much a new face with new challenges to encounter. Joining forces with Mario Illien and Eskil Sutter's Ilmor team for 2007, the 30 year old will be adding his input to the development of the exciting project, alongside fellow veteran Jeremy McWilliams.

Pit made his first premier class appearance in 2002, also put in charge of development work, for Kawasaki Racing's first outing in MotoGP in the last three races of the season. He earned the chance largely as a result of his World Supersport title achieved the previous season, and took 12th on the green machine in Valencia. After a full season with the team, Pitt was once again back to wildcard appearances, riding for Moriwaki Racing.

In recent years, Pitt has turned his hand to superbike racing, achieving a degree of success, before trying out for Ilmor in the first post-season tests and being offered the permanent ride.
