Minoli and Stoner kick off Ducati Presentation

Today saw the first day of a packed series of activities for the Ducati Marlboro team at the ski resort of Madonna di Campiglio, the scene of the annual pre-season presentation. Proceedings kicked off with two press conferences given by Ducati Motor President and Administrative Delegate Federico Minoli, alongside the team's new young rider Casey Stoner. During the presentation, Minoli explained that "the Ducati is an almost magic combination of engineering, technology and Italian passion. There has been a large investment, but on a cost level we have been able to maintain a balance as always."

"We are very happy about the new team. Loris doesn't just participate in races for us, he also forms part of our image, whilst Casey represents the future."

"He is a young rider, he still has to mature and become more consistent. In this aspect he is in perfect company. Like Wayne Rainey said: It's easier for a fast rider to learn not to crash than for a slow rider to learn how to ride fast. We wish both riders the best of luck and hope that the team rise as a whole are on top."

Stoner, who tied the not with his long term girlfriend just days ago, also had some comments for the gathered media: "Ducati have shown that they've got a powerful bike since their debut in MotoGP, they've always been competitive. Bridgestone likewise. I think we have a good team together, and I'm proud to be part of what I believe will be a great family."

"Its good to have a team-mate with whom to share ideas. I am sure that I will be able to learn a lot from Loris, and I don't think I could have a better team-mate right now."

"I want to improve and progress, looking for the best results possible. As regards the bike, I'm pleased with the power and I've discovered some big changes between that and the previous MotoGP prototype. I'm really happy right now, and I'm confident about my continued growth."

Tomorrow Ducati present the Desmosedici GP07 alongside Ducati Corse CEO Claudio Domenicali and experienced rider Loris Capirossi.
