Jerez holds first test of 2007 for 250cc and 125cc teams

Just as MotoGP's premier class are raring to go in 2007, the lower cylinder categories are also eager to start testing as soon as possible. From Monday to Wednesday next week, a large number of teams will be in action at Jerez for three days of testing.

A chance for some riders to continue the development of the 2007 bikes, for others it will be their first experience of the World Championship. Of particular interest will be the debut of Eugene Laverty, riding for the LCR Honda team this season and something of an unknown quantity in 250cc. Under the guidance of quarter litre specialist Lucio Cecchinello, could he be fast from the off? Other first-timers include Thai rider Ratthapark Wilairot for the Thai Honda PTT SAG team, and Ajo Motorsport.

Whilst main riders Loris Capirossi and Casey Stoner put the Desmosedici GP07 through its paces at the Sepang Circuit in Malaysia, test rider Vitoriano Guareschi will be developing the bike in Spain alongside the MotoGP support classes.
