Newcomers 2007: Karel Abraham

Although Karel Abraham is a newcomer to 250cc, he already has two seasons under his belt in 125cc. The 17 year old Czech rider always pushes himself to the limit, which last season resulted in a number of crashes during practice sessions, but bore fruit towards the end of the season when he notched a string of top 15 places. His best result in the class was 11th at Estoril in the penultimate race of 2006.

Abraham had his first test on the Aprilia LE RSW after the race in Valencia, as he made the move up to the quarter litre class to replace Jakub Smrz in the Cardion AB team. Abraham had previously raced for the team, owned by his father, in the lower cylinder class.

Testing for the team begins next week in Jerez, with further outings scheduled for the 27th/28th of January in Valencia, with a further test at the Cheste circuit on February 12th/13th.

" I am quite excited about competitng in the 250cc category, but of course I'm a little bit curious as to what to expect," commented Abraham. " I want to take part in almost all of the preseason tests. The beginning of the season will be hard for sure, but I am ready to do my best. We have a new chief mechanic and I am looking forward to cooperating with him during the season. The whole team came through the winter preparation and everything seems to be ready for 2007"
