Barbera heads increased field at Jerez

Hector Barbera was the fastest 250cc rider on day two of testing at the Jerez Circuit today. The Spaniard, riding for Team Toth this season, clocked a lap of 1'44.587 right at the end of his day's practice.

Behind Barbera, former 125cc World Champion Thomas Luthi continued his adaptation to the quarter litre category on an Aprilia, just under half a second off the pace-setter. The reigning king of the class, Jorge Lorenzo, was close behind, along with Metis Gilera riders Marco Simoncelli and Roberto Locatelli.

Interestingly, the top nine 250cc riders were all faster than Ducati test rider Vittoriano Guareschi, who was putting in extra work on the Desmosedici GP7 whilst the team's main riders test at Sepang this week.
