Honda riders Nicky Hayden and Carlos Checa have prepared for the smaller 800cc bikes by dropping weight over the winter break, with the intention of reducing wind resistance and general body volume.

The RC212V is one of the smallest bikes on the grid, and it seems that every gram counts to make the Japanese machine faster on track. Hayden and Checa commented on their choice to motogp.com during the second day of testing at Sepang.

"Obviously we aren't where we'd like at the moment, but today we just worked a little more on the setup to find what direction to go. The bike is maybe better for smaller riders, but I didn't design it so it really isn't anything I can do much about," commented Hayden.
