Checa is "King" for a day in Honda swap with Roberts Jr

In an intriguing development from the final day of MotoGP testing at Sepang, Carlos Checa and Kenny Roberts Jr swapped bikes for a run-out on track. The exchange was put forward by Team Roberts boss and former World Championship star Kenny Roberts Sr, keen to extend the depth of his team's collaboration with engine provider Honda.

With Nicky Hayden in eighth as the fastest Honda at yesterday's session, the Japanese factory are keen for extra input to improve their 800cc development. The experienced hands of both Checa and Roberts Jr could provide important solutions, with both having experienced 500cc, 990cc and 800cc riding in their time. Checa, who has been through 3 different teams, factories and tyre manufacturers in as many years, joked that he made the switch today because the KR212V was one of the few bikes in the paddock left for him to try.
