Yoda sets podium goal for 2007

Kawasaki Racing's Director Of Competition, Ichiro Yoda, spoke to motogp.com after last week's Sepang test to evaluate the team's first appearance under his guidance.

"The structure of Kawasaki Racing hasn't changed since last season. We have the same team of people, but with the exception being that I have assumed the position of Director Of Competition," commented the experienced Japanese boss, who set some targets for the Yoda-era.

"Our main goal is simply to develop the bike. For the season as a whole, we want to be on the podium on a couple of occasions if at all possible. We were close to pole position last year, which we will certainly be aiming for, and we still haven't ruled out the possibility of a premier class win."

"Obviously we have got into our stride a bit later than the other factories, we're about 2 or 3 months behind. However, even with such little time we are happy with the performance at Sepang."

"Olivier Jacque was 250cc World Champion in 2000, and had a great race at Shanghai in 2005. He is a quality rider, and we have trusted him to develop the bike. His experience will be a good thing for Randy de Puniet."
