Lorenzo: 'Pressure doesn't exist to me'

One accusation that can't be levelled at 250cc World Champion Jorge Lorenzo is that he lacks confidence. The Spanish rider yesterday made a clear statement to his rivals and those who have any doubt about his ability to defend the quarter litre crown in 2007: "Pressure doesn't exist to me. I just have to worry about myself, not about anything that my rivals can do."

The Spanish rider yesterday made a clear statement to his rivals and those who have any doubt about his ability to defend the quarter litre crown in 2007: "Pressure doesn't exist to me. I just have to worry about myself, not about anything that my rivals can do."

Lorenzo was speaking at the team presentation for Spain's No1 Aprilia, the team with which he will attempt his defence of the title this season. The event took place in the Spanish capital of Madrid, hosted by television presenter Sergio Sauca and featuring short speeches by Team Manager Dani Amatriain and Piaggio Group Sporting Director Giampero Sacchi, who then made way for Lorenzo to address the media and fans.

"Being the only rider in the team was one of my ‘demands' for the season. The atmosphere in the team is much better, and it excites me to think that this is the only time I will ever have this opportunity," added the rider from Majorca.
