One of the absentees of this week's Australian test at Phillip Island, and likewise the previous test at Sepang, Ilmor GP head outside of Europe for the first time to join in testing at the Malaysian circuit next week.

With only Andrew Pitt at their disposal, owing to Jeremy McWilliams' continued recovery from a leg operation, the team had a small test last weekend in Almeria, Spain, where the Australian rode the bike for the first time this year under cold conditions.

The work focused on by Ilmor will be general engine development and their collaboration with Michelin, with experienced development rider McWilliams likely to return to action for the Official Test in Qatar. The Northern Irishman's comeback will further speed up the team's progress as they prepare for their first full year in the premier class.
