Valentino Rossi's contract extension for Yamaha, which assure the Italian star's presence in the premier class until the end of 2008, means that he will have a chance to make history for the Japanese factory.

Over the course of three seasons, Rossi has blazed his way up the Yamaha Grand Prix victories chart. His record of 25 wins in the premier class since 2004 have exceeded the achievements of such legends as Kenny Roberts Sr. and Wayne Rainey. Only Eddie Lawson has more victories for Yamaha, and one more premier class triumph for Rossi would put him level with the American legend. The victories have given Rossi two World Titles and a runner up spot, and also enabled Yamaha to complete the ‘triple crown' of rider, team and constructors titles on their 50th anniversary in 2005.

The following video looks back on the Italian's fruitful relationship with the Japanese factory.
