The fastest rider at Sepang this week, Colin Edwards has taken encouragement from his performances in preseason to make a bold prediction. The Texan Tornado told motogp.com that, with their current form as it is, that the Yamaha duo could finish the season as World Champion and runner-up respectively.

"There's no reason that me and Valentino can't do a one-two this season, seeing how we're going now," said Edwards after day three in Malaysia. "The laps have been better than last year, much better, and even then we were fast despite the chattering problems."

The American undertook a race simulation today, although he admitted that the laps he put in beforehand had taken their toll somewhat. "I had done about 30 laps in the morning, which made me pretty tired, then I hit the track in the afternoon and was feeling pretty dead after lap 14!"

More reaction from Edwards can be heard in the following video.
