The 125cc and 250cc tests taking place today and tomorrow at the Catalunya circuit just outside Barcelona are already underway, commencing in cloudy and cool conditions. A healthy group of riders and teams are present including Kiefer Bos, FFM Honda and the official 250cc Honda teams, Repsol and Humangest Racing.

The Japanese rider from the Humangest Racing Team, Yuki Takahashi, returns to action following three months of inactivity, and showed that he is fit and ready to go after recovering from the serious injury he sustained in the last GP of 2006 at Valencia. Understandably he approached the test with caution following the tibia, fibula and femur fractures he suffered.

Spaniard Alex Debón was the first out on track at 10.30 am, and half an hour later the circuit was a hive of activity. At the time of writing Eugene Laverty had not yet made his debut appearance on track, though the Northern Irish rider will later take part in his first ever session with LCR Honda having met his new colleagues for the first time today.

The only major incident of note thus far today was a ten minute interruption in the test session following a crash by an Aprilia Junior Cup rider.
