Whilst a large number of 2-stroke teams headed to Valencia this week to continue their preseason testing, 250cc World Champion Jorge Lorenzo as ever chose to do things a little differently. The Spaniard underwent two days of work at the Almeria Circuit ahead of the Official Test next week at Jerez, and used the time to acquaint himself further with the new Aprilia chassis.

Strong winds halted his progress on Monday, but yesterday the team were able to complete their planned program without problems. Team Manager for Spain's No.1 Aprilia, Dani Amatrian, spoke to motogp.com about the progress made over the two days.

"Jorge was going well with the new chassis tested by Alex Debon, and we were using parts and fine-tuning the bike for the start of the season. We are hoping that Jorge can start the first Grand Prix of 2007 with all the new parts of the latest Aprilia."

The Aprilia RSA has a slightly smaller engine than the previous model, along with the new chassis.

Spanish 125cc Champion Pol Espargaro also took part in the tests, ahead of his first full season on the world stage.
