The respective 125 teams and riders worked non-stop in their Official Test at Jerez today, with fine weather permitting crucial track time, ahead of forecasted rain for tomorrow.

Enjoying their first day of testing at the traditional preseason venue, the minor class riders took advantage of the conditions as they took over following two days of Official testing by the 250cc teams.

The quarter litre competitors were hindered by wind and rain yesterday, so the 125 teams made maximum use of the track today, conscious that tomorrow they are likely to experience wet conditions themselves.

Two Aprilia riders recorded the best times of the day, the fastest being Polaris World's Italian representative Mattia Pasini who lapped in 1´47.727. Despite a dose of flu Hungarian rider Gabor Talmacsi of the Bancaja Aspar team was second quickest with a best lap just 0.076 seconds slower than Pasini's.

The third fastest lap on the first of two Official 125 test days was undertaken on a Derbi, by Valsir Seedorf Derbi's Lukas Pesek. Another Aprilia rider Simone Corsi and Tomoyoshi Koyama, onboard a KTM machine, were the fourth and fifth quickest, meaning that three different manufacturers sit in the top five on today's timesheets.

Meanwhile, Pasini's Polaris World team-mate Joan Olive was sixth best performer of the day, making him the quickest Spaniard at a circuit where he will be desperate to do well in front of the home crowd when the second Grand Prix of 2007 takes place in Jerez on March 25th.

Dominique Aegerter, Robert Muresan, Steve Bonsey, Bradley Smith, Daniel Webb and Lorenzo Zanetti all had light crashes but none of them suffered any serious injury of note. Oficial Test Jerez: 125cc Day 1
