Despite making every effort to recover as quickly as possible from his wrist and foot injuries sustained in Qatar, John Hopkins will not feature on track in Jerez over the next three days. The Anglo-American rider will miss all of the Jerez MotoGP Official Test that starts today and concludes on Sunday.

The recuperating 23-year-old has been present at the southern Spanish circuit this week undertaking off-track duties including attending photo calls such as the official unveiling of the new Rizla Suzuki GSV-R800 and the new livery for 2007, alongside team-mate Chris Vermeulen.

With Japanese test rider Kousuke Akiyoshi replacing him temporarily on-track, Hopkins plans to travel to England on Sunday to continue his rehabilitation process in order to be fully prepared for the first Grand Prix of the year, in Qatar on 10th March.

Hopkins spoke to motogp.com to give the latest on his recovery and the state of the injuries which are preventing him from taking part in Jerez.
