New bike, new look, new tyres: Honda Gresini 2007

Today's start of the second and final Official MotoGP Test in Jerez will see Honda Gresini continue their preseason preparations, following the official unveiling of their new 800cc RC212V and new livery for 2007

Today's start of the second and final Official MotoGP Test in Jerez will see Honda Gresini continue their preseason preparations, following the official unveiling of their new 800cc RC212V and new livery for 2007.

Of course, there are no major changes of personnel for the Italian team this season, with 2005 MotoGP World Championship runner-up Marco Melandri and young Catalan rider Toni Elias continuing onboard their Honda machinery.

Both riders were in attendance with team manager and owner Fausto Gresini, as their new blue and white bikes were officially unveiled. In addition to the change of colours from last year's red and the winter adaptations for the new 800cc era, the only other major change for Honda Gresini is the switch from Michelin to Bridgestone tyres for the coming campaign.

Speaking at the presentation in Jerez on the eve of the last official appointment before the MotoGP championship begins in Qatar in just over two weeks time, Gresini himself commented: "For 2007, with the motorcycles warming up already, we're facing a double-edged technical challenge: the 800cc era has got underway and we'll be tackling it on the back of the Bridgestone-shod RC212V. We are glad to welcome Bridgestone as our new technical partner. We have great faith in this partnership, which is based on a key strategic decision. We are determined to garner impressive results together."
