Riders For Health, the Official MotoGP charity, were today the recipients of a generous donation from Konica Minolta Honda rider Shinya Nakano. A cheque for 5000 euros was presented by the Japanese rider to World Championship legend and Riders For Health co-founder Randy Mamola this morning at a special event, held in the Konica Minolta Honda garage.

Nakano is a keen supporter of the charity, and his contribution will go towards a number of good causes in Africa as part of Riders For Health's 2007 project. He and the rest of the MotoGP grid also put some personal items up for auction every year for the highlight of the annual ‘Day Of Champions' event.

Former World Championship runner-up Mamola paid tribute to Nakano's generosity in an interview with motogp.com after receiving the cheque, stating that "Shinya is one of those guys who is quiet in the paddock, but he's really a friendly guy and a great rider. This donation will help enable Riders For Health to continue their good work in 2007."
